Our Story

La Mancha bar was established in 1998, and taken over in November 2024

We have taken the humble tapa, also known as an appetiser, to a different level by producing authentic Spanish cuisine in racione portions for the concept of sharing.

In the heart of Rochdale, we have created a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, ideal for either a snack and a glass of excellent Spanish Vino or a party night out. Our friendly staff look forward to welcoming you at the Restaurant.

About Tasca & Tapas

What separates a tasca from a bar elsewhere is its tapas. At La Mancha in Rochdale, we bring the Spanish tradition of serving small snacks with drinks to the heart of town, inspired by cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Santiago de Compostela, and San Sebastián.

“Tapa” means “to cover” or “lid,” originating from the old habit of placing bread or ham on top of a wine glass. This “edible lid” grew into the hundreds of tapas varieties we enjoy today, all celebrated at La Mancha Rochdale.

Tapas are small, flavourful snacks traditionally served with drinks.

The word “tapa” comes from covering a glass with bread or ham.

Some Spanish bars offer over eighty different tapas, showcasing incredible variety.
